Review of Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) by Nikolai E — 23 Dec 2007
The self-parody inherent in the plot saves this one from utter mediocrity. Daphne is determined to finally track down a real ghost, and investigates every tabloid headline she can find. Alas, time after time, they turn out to be inept criminals whose schemes would have gone off without a hitch if it weren't for those darn kids.
The opening montage, involving countless de-maskings, is hilarious enough, and the same gag carries over when, dejected, the gang stumbles on real, supernatural zombies and refuses to believe they're not an easily unveiled hoax.
It's not a good movie by any means, I'm just saying it could be a lot worse.
