Review of Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) by Steve S — 24 Jun 2010
** (out of four).
I will say this, the film is a little better than the first, but that is not saying much since many of the problems that hurt that first film still plague its sequel.
The Mystery Inc gang is at it again when an evil villain is on the loose in the city of Coolsville. The tricky baddie is able to take the shape of various villains who the gang have encountered in the past.
I did like that the film tried a little harder at getting back to basics of the old Hanna-Barbera cartoon. But I still don't like the versions of the characters they present. It's a bad sign when the old animated series is still smarter than the multi-million dollar film. Interesting, a much better version of the original can be found in the third movie, a made-for-cable film from 2009.
