Review of School for Scoundrels (2006) by Michael B — 01 May 2012
I expected at least a few laughs with Heder & Thornton but this flick was a complete dud. Heder plays the first half as a brain dead loser and how any girl (especially this one) would give him a second glance is beyond my imagination. He appears to gain a few smarts in the second half of the movie but by then I was still wondering where my first laugh would come in (actually I'd have been content with just a smile). Billy Bob goes through the motions but with a script like this I doubt if anyone could carry it off.
I see that four people are credited with writing the screenplay. Apparently none of them have any sense of what a good comedy should be because the jokes are stale and the physical "comedy" is a retread of a thousand better movies.
