Review of Schindler's List (1993) by Sreejith M — 22 Jul 2013
Jaws - One of the best thrillers ever made. Raiders of the lost Ark - One of the best adventure films. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial & Minority Report - Some of the best Science Fiction Film's. Saving Private Ryan - One of the best War films of the century.
Jurrasic Park - The Master of all slack/Monster movies. Now it's so sad such a great commercial director like Spielberg had to make an odd dramatic rending documentary like Schindler's List to prove his worth as a director.
It's a great technical achievement - YES.!! But for me It didn't work that well because not even Spielberg could make me forget about the deafening nightmares of The Holocaust. When I think of The Holocaust I don't think about 1 man saving 500 people (That seems like a blatant promise) but I remember the ambush and blood spill which has taken lives of millions of Jews.
Schindler's list couldn't change my perception of The Holocaust and on that front Spielberg's film is a failure. I would love to go with Kubrick -- " Schindler's List is about Success and Holocaust is about Failure " Nothing less, nothing More.
