Review of Scent of a Woman (1992) by Nikolaj Z — 04 Feb 2010
"You wanna know the truth? He was an asshole before. Now he's just a blind asshole.".
Lots of good one liners delivered by Pacino, he's in the amazing business, and just a wonderful film overall.
"Goodbye, Willie. I'm no fucking good... and I never was.".
It's hard not to feel sympathy for Pacino in this film. Chris O'Donnell does a good job quietly stammering, and Mr. P.S. Hoffman is in the early stages of his "Twister" character. The music is soft and appropriate. And although the film drags on a few moods and scenes, there are plenty of other key moments that make up for those doldrums.
"There are two kinds of people in Life: those who stand and face the music and those who take cover. Cover is better.".
(One of my favorite scenes in this flick is the tango dance and it turns out that Pacino didn't even really dance; it was all choreographed and edited really well.).
