(4 Stars) There are definitely people who are split on which pair of Scary Movie's are funnier: 1 and 2 by the Wayans brothers or 3 and 4 by David Zucker. I prefer 3 and 4 because I generally laugh harder and more watching the Zucker films. I think some people incorrectly think this is a watered down Scary Movie since it's PG-13, but this forces the jokes to be more clever. A joke doesn't have to feature a ton of cuss words or a dick to be funny and this spoof proves that.
I know we're saturated with bad spoofs like Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Vampires Suck, but SM3 is not one of them. It's by David Zucker, the comedic genius behind Airplane!, Naked Gun, and BASEketball... he knows what's funny and he's not rooted in topical humor that's irrelevant when it hits DVD. SM3 spoofs the more ridiculous aspects of The Ring (a film I actually love, but the jokes are great), Signs, and The Matrix Reloaded. I also love the 8 Mile parody; it's not even a horror film and that's why I love it. There are some very laugh out loud moments in Scary Movie 3. Like Airplane!, there are jokes upon jokes that hit you at a million miles an hour; if one doesn't work, there's another one only seconds away.
