Review of Scary Movie (2000) by Nathaniel K — 10 Feb 2014
Spoof at it's best. Normally spoofs ripping off films can be dull but this is actually one of the best "Movie Spoofs withing a Movie" genres out there. The acting (If you call it that) is actually good, it seems like the cast are having fun, taking the most of their roles from other films.
The shocks are great and doesn't dare to back down. Admittedly it must've been hard to a spoof a film (Scream, mostly) that is already a dark comedy. The jokes come thick and fast, though the best moments are those that weren't scripted.
There's energy and glee in the movie, as if the Wayans brothers were still little boys, desperately working to out-gross each other. Naughty little boys and girls everywhere, even those who have officially grown up, will appreciate their commitment.
Worth a look, so sit back and laugh out load. They don't make them like they used to. Brilliant modern spoof, which amazingly spawned loads of sequels. You'll have a smile by the end of this.
