Review of Scary Movie 2 (2001) by Kendall I — 27 Jun 2011

This is the first movie that my being a critic has ruined since I first saw it.

PLOT:The gang from the first movie is back in college: Cindy (Anna Faris), Brenda (Regina Hall), Shorty (Marlon Wayans), Ray (Shawn Wayans) and the others. When the new teacher, Professor Oldman (Tim Curry) invites the kids to the mansion aptly named Hell House (where a young girl was once possessed) for a sleep-deprivation study, when strange things start happening. It's up to the kids to solve the mystery and put the ghosts to rest. It's a typical plot for a horror-spoof and it is executed so, so miserably. Another thing I noticed is that, even as a spooif, the plot was very loose and undone.

ACTING:Most acting should've been good for this type of movie, but with painful script and falling plot in hand, everybody failed-even Tim Curry and Anna Faris. The actors/actresses that playe dtheir parts the most respectively, though, were David Cross, Shawn and Marlon Wayans, and Kathleen Robertson.

SOUNDTRACK:If there was any score, then I didn't notice it, but the soundtrack I instantly fell in love with. Every song I love,love,loved.

EFFECTS:For a spoof movie, they weren't half bad. But that doesn't affect this rating ANY.

OTHER CONTENT:As I said before, this is the first movie that me being a critic ruined. That means it ruined the feeling I had for the movie before. But in this situation, I'm ok with it. This is a movie I could live without easily. I can just keep the memories shared when I first saw it. The movie's jokes fall flat on their face in every turn. Some only made me laugh because they were so freaking stupid. The only ones that inspired what appeared to be a chuckle were the scenes with the cat, the parrot, and the clown-rape scene. The first was good, the third was ok ,and I love the fourth-but this falls flat. I mean, the only thing scary about this movie is how bad the jokes are!

OVERALL,a sucky movie with a horribly executed, loose-ended plot, attempted but fail acting, a great soundtrack, ok effects, and jokes that fall flat on their face. Ruined the feeling, kept the memory.
