Review of Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktakular (2003) by Kevin R — 24 Oct 2010
Monsters aren't real.
A little boy has lost his belief in monsters and all things Halloween. Since he has lost his faith in the holiday, he sets upon a mission to destroy the holiday for everyone else in his neighborhood. An unsuspecting little girl is prepared to face the boy and convince him Halloween is a worthwhile holiday...she may also show him that he is wrong about monsters.
"Better smelly than in a monster's belly.".
Ezekiel Norton, director of the Spider-man, Beat Wars, and Inspector Gadget series, delivers Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktakular. The storyline for this picture is fun and worth following. The animation is interesting and reminded me a little of Monster House. The voices were well selected and include Gary Chalk, Scott McNeil, and Tabitha St. Germain.
"You can't have Halloween without pumpkins.".
My daughter and I caught this on the cartoon network while flicking through the channels the other night. We both watched this film and I found it to be better than average but nothing special overall (definitely catered towards kids and mildly towards adults). The run time ran a bit short and prevented the director from well delivering the characters. Overall, this may be worth viewing with your kids once but not worth adding to your DVD collection.
"I am exposed to the elements.".
Grade: C+.
