Review of Scars of Dracula (1970) by Gerard B — 13 Feb 2018
The vampire bats in this film make it for me with their hilarious squeaking and flapping wings on strings. They set the tone for what I see as a tongue in cheek update on the theme, clearly low.
Budget and clichéd but nonetheless entertaining. Gone are the victorian gentlemen of the past with their cut glass accents to be replaced by younger alpha males of lesser breeding who hop into bed with the girls and take on Dracula whenever they get the chance. Lots of lipstick red blood and synthetically grisly scenes but they somehow work. Definitely a period classic IMO despite the many negative reviews.
