Review of Scarface (1983) by Noah A — 02 Nov 2013
It's the popcorn Godfather. It lives and dies by the pulse of a decidedly un-tired Pacino fully inhabiting a larger than life character. The fact that Scarface is Brian DePalma's best work speaks to how he's a very good popcorn director, but certainly an echelon below the likes of Scorsese.
This also counts as one of Oliver Stone's (he wrote it, yep) life lesson films addressing the ills of the world at the time.
