Review of Scarface (1983) by Aboodash56 — 22 Jul 2021
Scarface remains of the best crime dramas to come out in the 80s and is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. It does a great job in delivering a character study of a man descending into his madness and showcasing his downfall.
Al Pacino delivers one of his best performances in his entire career as Tony Montana, as he showcases his vulnerability and anger throughout the film, Brian De Palma's direction is superb and Giorgio Mordor's score adds to the film's atmosphere.
I also love the final shootout scene, which I won't spoil, but it's one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history. The only issue I have with the film is that the second act isn't very compelling and drags the pacing a bit, but Scarface still remains of the most iconic movies of the 1980s that showcases a depiction of violence, greed and power in the United States.
