Review of Scarface (1932) by Ninon M — 29 Sep 2017
'Scarface' is a visceral gangster film, ultra-stylized, striking with power and violence, electrified by an imperial performance from Al Pacino and Moroder's killer score. Nearly flawless, 'Scarface' is a great remake of Hawk's classic, almost consistently strong and always crude.
The supporting cast is also excellent. Relentlessly hard-hitting, 'Scarface' is a film whose impact is unmissable, being filled with harsh and redoubtable dialogues and set in a glamourous and dirty Florida (even though the film was shot in LA).
Besides, being avant-gardist at many levels, Brian De Palma's brilliant film has had a significant influence not only in popular culture but in filmmaking.
