Review of Scanners (1981) by Courtney T — 29 Nov 2007
"Scanners" is a complicated piece of work to review. Cronenberg clearly had already established artistic expectations, but I just don't think they were excecuted well enough. The concept of the story is incredibly promising and original without being too ostentatious, but I think it was heavily hurt by the script.
The acting was sub-par, and some of the camerawork is clumsy. However, the head explosion in the first few scenes is very memorable and sticks in my mind.
