Review of Scanners (1981) by Ray M — 26 Jun 2008
Stodgy at times but everything you would expect from an early work of Cronenberg; Surreal visual design and a haunting soundtrack set the tone and drive this high suspense thriller. Clearly with this movie, Cronenberg raised the bar of his skill and afterwards learned from his mistakes and raised the bar again with films such as Dead Zone and The Fly in the following years.
Recommended for fans of Cronenberg's brand of horror and Sci-fi.
