Review of Scanners (1981) by Kevin G — 22 May 2010
I actually think this was way ahead of it's time. I loved the concept and the bizarre feel to it. The acting is a little corny at times and the dialogue can be pretty ridiculous, but I think it's part of it's great charm.
As always Cronenberg has some of the coolest make-up and effects from the head exploding to the vein bursting. I would say it's definitely more sci-fi than horror. One thing that I found really odd was how closely Michael Ironside resembles Jack Nicholson, it's kind of uncanny.
