Review of Scanners (1981) by Ben H — 09 Nov 2011
The subtle use of the sound effect of a kettle boiling (whistling) as someone is being scanned, is enough to even allow the audience to feel some pressure in their head. It is this type of genius from Cronenberg that I love as it really gets under your skin as his movies pan out.
With a remake in the works for next year, I just can't see how this can be duplicated or even if they should.
