Review of Scanners (1981) by Guillaume S — 30 Mar 2012
Forget Tommy Wiseau, Steven Lack gives one of the most awkward, hilariously bad performances I've ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if he's Cronenberg's cousin or something like that. Also, I don't know if it was because of his acting or not, but the dialogue was really weak.
Like a 15 year old wrote it or something. the only thing it really had going for it was the special effects. Back before CGI, you had to get a latex head and fill it with rabbit liver and dog food and shoot it with a 12 gauge shot gun to make a guys head explode.
By far the weakest Cronenberg movie I've seen to date.
