Review of Scanners (1981) by Patrick Y — 06 Oct 2014

While Scanners is an interesting entry into sci-fi action by David Cronenberg, the film does what it need to do: sets up conflict between the good guy and the bad guy, places the hero in danger a few times, and then offers a big fight between the good guy and the bad guy.

Unfortunately, the lead's wooden acting and a lack of serious excitement bogs the film down. However, the special effects do offer some great gross-out moments, as well as a strong performance by Michael Ironside as the villain.
