Review of Say Anything... (1989) by Ray Q — 01 Jun 2009
This is how romantic comedies should be make not like the modern bollix we have to suffer (aka maid in manhattan) Simple, Cusack play geeky Lloyd and hes in love with rich/pretty Diane(Ione Skye), he asks her out, she says yes(gives us all hope) she doesnt like him at first but on first date she see s there is more to Lloyd than meet the eye and against her fathers wishes she continues to see him, when Dianes world is riped apart when her father is caught ripping off old people of their money its Lloyd who saves her from falling apart.
Its got great performances from Cusack & Skye, some touching scenes, Llyod stand outside her house in rain playing Peter Gaberiel In Your Eyes on his Boom Box, sounds naff but really touching scene, and another is when Llyod and Diane break up and she gives him a pen to write to her, he rings his friends crying.
.. such a sweet moment. love this movie to bits.
