Review of Say Anything... (1989) by Sean M — 19 Sep 2009
The characters were hard to care about. Diane was a sheltered teen with no friends whose "love" for lloyd seemed to be as a stand-in for a friend who didn't need "potential". she only came back to him because he was all that she had when her life was falling apart.
Lloyd was a more genuine character, but still, can you remember a great relationship that occurred with losing your virginity after a few weeks with a distant acquaintance. The movie's strength lies in its honest portrayal of the unsure purgatory between high school and the "real" world.
but if you are planning on checking this out for an "aww" or a laugh, all I can say is "Go back!".
