Calling it a comedy is a real stretch. This is a rather plodding love story. Thankfully, the film does avoid most of the cliche teen characters, but at the price of making everyone soooooo nice.
While the actors give it their all, the underlying story is torpedoed by the incredible implausibility of the core relationship between Cusack's character and Skye's. Also, what was the point of the subplot around John Mahoney's character, other than to inject some artificial tension? It just didn't feel right - more an afterthought.
Overall, not a very polished product.
