Review of Say Anything... (1989) by Daniel V — 27 Jul 2012
There's a reason John Cusack holding up a boom box is an iconic image. There's a reason young boys in the 80's fell in love Ione Skye. That reason is Say Anything. Some consider this the greatest Teen movie of all time, I say bullshit.
It's so much more than that. Writer/Director Cameron Crowe delievers a heartfelt, real story of two people from different walks, falling in love. John "Fraiser's Dad" Mahoney turns in a stellar performance as Skye's father and Lily Collins steals every scene she is in as Cusack's best friend.
Small yet memorable parts are played by Joan Cusack, Eric Stoltz and Cusack's real life best friend Jeremey Piven. One of the best 80's soundtracks ever, just a great great movie.
