Review of Say Anything... (1989) by Juli R — 24 Mar 2014
Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) is the perfect teenage guy. Sweet, loyal (maybe a little overbearing). Cameron Crowe captures what it's like to be young and idealistic and in love with someone unattainable.
The problem is we don't get to see what happens to Lloyd in 20 years. What if he turns out to be an unmotivated freeloader? Conclusion -- Lloyd Dobler is an ok choice for your first love, but only if you're an ambitious career woman, and you're sure you won't want to stay home with the kids.
(Side note -- I don't like Peter Gabriel.).
