Review of Say Anything... (1989) by Brandon W — 18 Oct 2014
Say Anything is a terrific first feature film from director Cameron Crowe. This is what romance films should be and not just the sappy or schmaltzy stuff that ruins it. It's really funny while also having heartfelt moments.
There were times that I thought was were going to be what lots of people in romance films do, but they take it like a regular person would do. It's really unpredictable which surprised me knowing what's in store for this film.
The acting is fantastic in this and perhaps made John Cusack and Lili Taylor a star. This film really felt real to me which is rare to see. The dialogue and chemistry between the two leads are really great.
It felt like a masterpiece film to me, and is one of the best romance films I have ever seen.
