Review of Say Anything... (1989) by William J — 10 Aug 2009
A lovely film with a feel-good beat.John Cusack is impressive as Llyod, as is Ione Skye as Dianne. They make a cute couple, and you can't help but root for Llyod to stay with the girl in the end. He may not have a set future carved out for him, but he knows what his heart is telling him, and he is in love.
The story is fairly simple: boy meets girl, they fall in love, etc. However, a fresh spin is added to the plot which helps set it apart from other romantic comedies. The scene where Llyod visits the guys outside the gas station is particularly humourous.
The soundtrack is super, and perhaps the most memorable scene of all is where Llyod is holding the boom-box above his head.
