Review of Sawdust and Tinsel (1953) by Sean C — 10 May 2008
A gem. Bergman found a way to depict what many thought belonged to language or to the novel. How he managed to find such depth without artifice, using the scripted word and the acting performer is beyond me.
This film, a unique blend of the late silent film and Fellini's theatre-circus is enough to inspire or paralyse the aspiring filmmaker.
