Review of Saw VI (2009) by Jacob K — 06 Nov 2010
"Saw VI" gave the series the adrenaline shot that it needed, and surprising, I enjoyed this movie. After the plodding and bland "Saw V," Kevin Greutert steps up to the plate as director and does a good job.
Additionally, Peter Outerbridge brings some well-needed emotion and acting chops to the series. "Saw VI" actually pushes the story forward, and that's something I had been waiting for for since the fourth entry.
Some highlights of "Saw VI" include: a twisting and engaging plot, pretty solid acting from the main character--not so much Hoffman (as usual), the traps are interesting and vicious, and overall the vibe of the film is taut and razor-sharp.
This is the sequel that "Saw V" should've been. Recommended.
