Review of Saw VI (2009) by Ben B — 10 Oct 2011
A noticeable rejuvenation of the franchise. Bell is a much greater presence through flashbacks than in the boring fifth instalment, which coupled with the improved production values and direction gives the series some credibility back.
Greutert also provides some of the best misdirection seen in the franchise since the original film. If you've got this far through the Saw films you've probably, like me, given up making any comparison to the first film.
VI doesn't change that, but in comparison with the other four films that have succeeded the original this film has some strong arguments for being seen as the best of the sequels.
