Review of Saw VI (2009) by Zac H — 06 Oct 2010
I finally gathered up the boredom to watch this, and while the deaths are very fascinating to watch on a sadistic level, did it really have to be so predictable?? Let's see, the protagonist has to choose between a middle aged woman with diabetus or a young guy with no family, HMMMMM!
I still respect the Saw series for knowing their audience and feeding them what they want, but still at least surprise the audience for once.
And seriously, the 14 year old son knows about hydrochloric acid when the mom doesn't? Talk about a guilty fantasy...
To be honest as I watch this film I keep coming back here because there are so many things wrong with it, for example the famous carousal scene in the trailer only lets two women survive, because the populace won't accept the notion that men have the possibility of being innocent as well. No, no one's innocent in this death trap, as they all shout and bicker among each other shouting "she's a bitch" "he's a liar", blah blah blah, not coming from a religious man but for the love of God some VARIETY would've been a welcome change! This isn't even mentioning the even more torturous scenes of "justifying" the characters to their fates with boring dialouge and unnecessary cameo's from Tobin Bell who died in the third saw. (SPOILERS!) Oh yeah generic white male, you THOUGHT you were going to survive in a pseudo-philosophical torture porn film! If you want disturbing realistic violence watch Irreversible, if you want graphic revenge violence watch Last House on the Left or Day of the Woman, if you want to watch a disturbing serial killer movie watch Red Dragon or Se7en, if you want elaborate death scenes watch Cube or the first two Final Destination films, but for the love of God this movie offers nothing! Don't waste your money on SAW 3-D or else you'll be giving them more reason to shit out another script for a sequel! End this Saw plague while you still can!
