Review of Saw VI (2009) by Greg P — 09 Dec 2011
The best Saw film since the original Saw along with Saw 3 and Saw 3D. I really enjoyed watching this movie and it was just as good as the first movie along with the third movie. Saw VI is the continuation of the series and the traps/game concerns on William Easton a man who works on a Health Policy and he denies the sick while the healthy people lives and sooner or later he's put to the test where he must try to survive the traps he's in.
Meanwhile Agent Strahm is now the prime suspect but the detectives find Hoffman to be the actual suspect as the detectives solve the case even further. The new Saw film has lots of big improvements over the first five Saw movies.
To say this I personally like Saw VI because this movie has all of the suspense like the original Saw. What I did like about this movie is that the story about William Easton and the Umbrella Health Company is intriguing and well paced.
The movie also has one of the most intriguing moments even the suspense was used really well plus the film also has a couple of darker moments and Saw VI is probably the darkest installment in the Saw movies because this movie explains more of Jigsaw's backstory as the film goes on.
I also enjoyed all of the traps in this movie. My personal favorite trap in Saw VI is the Carousel Trap where William Easton has to choose which person to die where two can live but four will die and that trap was really intense because whenever the Carousel stops the Shotgun will mainly shoot one person and after one person dies another person is next to get killed but William Easton can save a person by hurting himself usually by pressing the buttons in the box and that scene was also nasty and intense because when William Easton is gonna push the two buttons he gets his hands injured everytime he pushes the buttons and I also like the Carousel trap because the sound of the Shotgun blast was also intense everytime a person dies when the Carousel stops that is probably one of the best traps in Saw VI.
I also like the Oxygen Crusher trap and I bet any horror fan would enjoy that scene because that trap was intense and nasty as well and all Horror fans would enjoy that trap due to it's intense and scary moments.
The Steam Room was my third favorite trap in Saw VI and it is probably the most graphic trap since Saw 3's the Rack Trap because in the Steam Room trap Will's lawyer Debbie must try to escape the trap by moving from each space in the cage and when she escapes the trap but she didn't get the key from William Easton she dies when the device under her belly moves from the stomach to her chin and she gets impaled in the face with that mechanic thingy that trap was really good so far and the kill in that trap is really graphic so far.
And my last favorite trap in Saw VI is the trap where William dies that was also an intense trap but it is pretty graphic and gory as well it's probably the nastiest trap in Saw VI and the way William dies is incredibly realistic and graphic even gory as well and I personally enjoyed how his intestines were coming out after the Hydro Flauric Acid started pumping towards his body that trap was really nasty and good.
All the traps in this movie was really good so far. Although I think Saw 3D has the nastiest and the goriest traps because the traps in Saw 3D is intense, brutal, graphic, gory and disgusting as well I mean everytime someone dies in Saw 3D chunks of intestines are flying towards the screen it really fits well so far for the movie but Saw VI still has some good moments only that there's more suspense in Saw VI so far.
While the suspense and tension along with the kills are good the acting was also good. Peter Outerbridge did a good job with his performance as William Easton. Tobin Bell did a good job with his performance as Jigsaw once again.
Betsy Russell was also good with her performance as Jill Tuck John's wife and Costas Mandylor did a good job with his performance as Detective Hoffman since he was also good with his performance from Saw III-V so far.
The directing by Kevin Greutert was also good since he edited the first five Saw movies and Andrew Coutts took over his editing job in Saw VI-Saw 3D because Greutert was already going to make his first directional debut with Saw VI I would say that Kevin Greutert did good job with his directing so far with Saw VI and the screenplay written by Horror kings Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan was also good these two should continue working for the Saw movies although James Wan and Leigh Whannel are the executive producers of the later on Saw movies because they haven't been involved ever since after the third movie but I think that Patrick and Marcus did a good job with their writings in the later on Saw movies so far.
I would say Saw VI is the best Saw movie along with Saw 3D, the original Saw and Saw III. Saw VI is the superior to the previous Saw movies along with Saw 3D. Saw VI is probably first place. Second place goes to Saw 3D.
Third place goes to the first Saw movie and fourth place goes to Saw III. And keep this in mind I like all of the Saw movies(even though Saw II and Saw IV were really bad sequels because of the lack of suspense I still like all of the Saw movies) and I would also say that Saw VI is a worthy film that beat the lazy Paranormal Activity so far.
Overall I would give this movie a 10/10 because the film is intense, suspenceful, gory, intriguing, graphic and nasty as well. So in the end all the Saw fans will walk out of the theater and raise their hands in the air and they finally claim that they have they're beloved franchise back to it's nasty and gory roots.
