Review of Saw V (2008) by Aaron C — 10 Apr 2010
More overly elaborate Rube Goldberg tortue devices, except this time Jigsaw is taking on the insurance industry. Even though I may agree with the film's politics and like that it brought a social topic to an audience that may not typically watch films about our nation's health care (kind of like when Steven Segal made the environmental action movies "On Deadly Ground" and "Fire Down Below"), it was a pretty lame excuse to torture some bad guys and didn't really forward the SAW story one bit.
Even if you view it as something of a prequel, it still didn't give any new background that added depth to Jigsaw. By far the weakest entry in the series.
