Review of Saw V (2008) by Amanda C — 22 Oct 2010
I want to play a game... and oh yes, there will be blood! I love all the Saws; every year I anticipate the next one coming out. Saw 5 attempts to answer some questions that we were left with in the previous movies.
This film heavily references the earlier movies of the series, so it's pretty much necessary to be familiar with them (although there are flashback scenes that serve as reminders). Visually, many parts of the film were dimly lit, but it kind of goes hand in hand with the torture scenes.
Like most of the Saw movies, there's a crew of dislikeable characters who will most certainly meet a grusome death and the police officers who are attempting to sort out the whole mess. The two situations alternate back and forth throughout the movie.
It really wasn't anything fresh and new, but basically more of the same.
