Review of Saw V (2008) by William B — 10 Nov 2010
Once again awful acting, the storyline is opening up many other doors showing that Jigsaw has many many more helpful people than you thought he had.
But even though there are a few people who are trying to make traps and pin them on Jigsaw, John Kramer and the police realise that this might be simply a copy cat killer.
But of course when Jigsaw finds out about this he's angry, because he knows that The Pendulum was not one of his traps, because it was simply going to kill the victim not give him a choice. Big difference.
This story follows mainly the police force and the FBI, but there is also a trap with 5 people (Similar to Saw II). This Saw just gives the audience another taster of how damn clever Jigsaw really is, like when he tells FBI agent Peter not to leave the leave the room he is locked in because otherwise it'll be his tomb.
The traps: The main interesting and most brillaint traps in this Saw come from the Five Fatals, not just because of the harshness of the traps but the way the victims realise that throughout the whole time they were killing each other off, they should have been going against the shitty instincts and helped each other. Pure Jigsaw brilliance: The Collars, The Hanging Jars, The Bathtub, The Blood Doner.
Then when the end came about, another genious was shown and it related straight back to when Jigsaw warned FBI agent Peter not to leave the room, and he ended up being crushed like a grape...Ouch.
2/5.
