Review of Saw IV (2007) by Jarrett M — 05 Nov 2011
Saw 4 becomes the start of the new direction of the Saw franchise and establishes a fromula that will be followed through the remainder of the series. I still enjoyed the film and the additional backstory that was given to John/Jigsaw was nice to see.
And of course the answer to whom was the new brains behind Jigsaw's legacy. The pacing of the film is accelerated a bit over the last one and it feels like the film never lets up all the way to the end.
There is the now familiar twist at the end again, but I don't think it carries as much of a punch as the previous ones. One thing I will say for the series is that the previous movies seem to make more sense as new movies arrive and offer answers to previous plot holes.
A step down from the previous film, but a decent effort in itself.
