Review of Saw III (2006) by Curtis H — 30 Dec 2011
While it carries traces of the same thoughtful themes introduced by its first two predecessor, it loses a lot of points for bringing out our worst complaints about the Saw movies. This third installment is truly gruesome, and much of the gruesomeness is mindless and non-complimentary to the well laid plot.
It also seems that too much is going on, while very little is going on. It is paced so oddly that you can't help getting overwhelmed. Though quintessential to the Saw story arc, and brilliantly featuring Tobin Bell in his last "living" hurrah as Jigsaw, this film stands poorly on its own.
