The twist ending and the pieces suddenly falling together make up for the rest of this, although it is becoming clear that they're running out of ideas. Also, this is significantly more gory than the first one.

It starts out with a guy who has metal rings in his mouth and all over his body and if he doesn't rip the rings out of his skin/bones his body will be ripped apart. I'll leave you to figure out what happens.

I figured the movies would get progressively more disgusting and gratuitously violent and I was right. Anyway, this "Saw" has narrowed the playing field back down to 2 main characters. One of them is an unlucky doctor who is kidnapped and brought to Jigsaw's lair, where he is in bed dying of cancer.

Amanda, the annoying young apprentice who should die, straps that infamous collar-that-will-blow-your-head-off around the woman's neck and forces her to take care of Jigsaw. Meanwhile, an alcoholic, dispondent father who's son has been killed in a hit-and-run has also been kidnapped and must go through a series of tests where he has to decide whether or not to take vengeance on the people involved in the death of his son.

The scenes where he is struggling with what to do are too.... overly-dramatic. Like it's very obvious they are playing up the drama factor of his decision: Will he, or won't he? What's he gonna do? What's going to happen? Is the guy going to die? Frankly, it worked for me.

But that doesn't make it any less annoying.
