Review of Saw II (2005) by Jared M — 17 Dec 2013
The inevitable first of many sequels is not as bad as any commercial follow up but hardly as intelligent and as meticulously elaborate as well as psychologically exhilarating as the first. This time we get to see Jigsaw in person, as he plays with the mind of detective, the father, and one of his victims, the son, stuck in a house with others looking frenetically for an antidote.
The script is still smart, the directing is sometimes commercially overwhelming. However, the original material is strong enough for this to be a lasting horror saga.
