Here's the first film that started it all from director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell. Saw is a great film that I'll keep in my Halloween shelf. It does have a nice balance of seeing the game, while knowing what's going on outside the game.

The acting is mostly great, Cary Elwes is having a hard time going with either an American accent, or British accent, and it's distracting and a bit funny in an unintentional way. The writing is great, and it's nice to hear the jigsaw killer talk that way even though I felt like there should've been more of it.

There is another problem which is when the time doesn't go the way that it was. But for what it is, Saw is original despite they took some from Seven. It has some nice edits in this which is something I barely see in a film like this, and it has done well with it and does't use too much of it.

It's twisted in a good way, it's got a sweet soundtrack, and it's not trying to be a torture porn film like the sequels are trying to be. I would've been shocked at the twist ending, which it is a great twist, if I wasn't spoiled by it.

Who knew Saw would turn into a series with seven movies?
