Review of Saving Silverman (2001) by Joshua E — 31 Aug 2007
This movie had some good people in it. You'd think Jack Black would have to carry it on his shoulders but Steve Zahn was great. Jason Biggs was...well, Jason Biggs. Amanda Peet was good as the manipulative bitch, and the coach was hilarious...taking dumps in the yard and diving out of trucks with guns because he suffers from paranoia. Paranoia of the police, is there any better kind?
Sometimes the music was terrible. Just awful. With a musical talent like JB in the movie they should have never let this happen. And Kyle Gass made a special appearance as a creepy street magician, quite amusing.
The stunts were great. People falling off of rooftops, diving out of cars, crashing their mopeds, and even some good fight sequences I was pleased.
So it loses a star for the terrible soundtrack and I'm not talking about Neil Diamond, could have used some more of his music.
And loses another star for it's unoriginal storyline. Oh the kidnapping scenario, luckily anything is funny when Jack black is involved. And that is why it lands three stars, because Jack Black can turn dog shit to gold...well except in that movie greed where he actually did turn dog shit into gold. That movie was terrible.
