Review of Saving Silverman (2001) by James G — 09 Feb 2008
Neil Diamond aside, Biggs is bland, Steve Zahn and Jack Black are over the top and obnoxious. Is it wrong to root for Amanda Peet's character in this film? She's set up to the the bad guy but by the end you're won over by her sexiness and charm.
I mean, they kidnap her and lock her in the basement, she escapes, fights back and we're supposed to feel bad for THEM?!? Ethically it's f*cked. Also, criminally for a comedy, it had 3 jokes that made me approach a laugh.
Would have been a 2 star but gets an extra star for Peet's wardrobe and the fact she actually looks like she's enjoying it. Now that's good acting.
