Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Dan H — 01 Jul 2013
One of the best war movies ever made. The action scenes and blood/gore and explosion effects are just superb, the emotional moments are strong and touching, and the overall story is just tops. Tom hanks put on another one of his best performances as a man that may be beginning to show the first signs of PTSD.
he cares greatly about his troops and easily puts on a stoic facade while he's actually being torn apart on the inside. Matt Damon is great as Pvt. Ryan, the man they are all trying to save, in fact the whole cast all does a superb job (even Jeremy Davies who ends up being a complete coward in the end still puts on a believable and great performance).
A great film, and one any movie buff should see (Be aware that the film is incredibly sad and 3 hours long).
