Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Shane M — 10 Nov 2013
A Steven Spielberg masterpiece that push the boundaries farther than many of his other films. The Oscar-winning director is able to perfectly produce an R-rated film that young modern audiences would be surprised to know about.
Spielberg perfectly directs Rober Rodat's screenplay with a huge sense of realism, grit, and graphic violence to make this the best and most realistic war film ever made. The film benefits from amazing visual effects, realistic battle scenes, as well as great acting and execution.
The best thing to come from this film is the character development, the chemistry between the characters, and mostly, the emotional impact it has on the characters and their collaboration with the other characters.
The film has incredible graphic violence that pushes and challenges the MPAA's restrictions on films, and add realism to the film. The film offers great humor at times, as well as the effect of war on family and friends of the characters.
A Spielberg film that's hard to stand with the graphic violence, but watchable and enjoyable for its themes and characterization.
