Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Cid O — 13 Jul 2014
Die Hard just keeps getting bumped lower and lower on my favorites list(it stands at number 3 now and was previously number 1).
I have heard many things about Saving Private Ryan. I have heard that it's incredible, I have heard that it's too gruesome to watch, I have heard that it's so gruesome that it had to be watched, but nothing could have prepared me for this film. I have heard many people call films such as Pulp Fiction and Shawshank an experience, and not a film, and I just thought that were saying this to try to make the film sound better than it was. This is the first film that I would ever consider an experience. The film is almost three hours long but by the time it was over I had forgotten it was a film and not real life. I could go on and on about what's great about this movie, but that would literally take me the entire day. I could tell you what I think is wrong with this movie but I can't do that either because I don't think there is anything wrong this this movie. This is the only film I would consider flawless. Sadly, it doesn't quite make it to my number 1 spot(that being Collateral) but it definitely comes incredibly close. My second favorite film.
