Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Gerardo R — 31 Dec 2012
Intense movie on the ten day journey of one captain beginning in the midst of the U. S. invasion of Normandy. The blood and gore appears with no apologies; it is a difficult film to sit through, but very powerful at the same time.
The captain's platoon is presented with well crafted and diverse characters. Each character has his own depth. There are no contrived moments. The film provides a realistic depiction of the struggles that the characters would go through in terms of emotions and morality.
A unique achievement of WWII's D-day invasion of Normandy that I cannot conceive being surpassed.
