Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Danny O — 01 Nov 2014
This is about as realistic and intense as war dramas get. Tom Hanks is great yet again, along with a great supporting cast. The frightening opening scene is about the closest vision of war ever put to screen.
The action was terrific, and very engaging. The story is very compelling, even becoming an emotional ride at times. The action set pieces and the way it captured the horrors of wars are fantastically executed.
The dialogue is well written, the action is memorable, and the performances are top notch, especially another stellar performance by Tom Hanks. Spielberg does a great job directing this thrilling and unforgettable film.
Saving Private Ryan gets 5/5 stars (A+).
