Saving Private Ryan is a 1998 American epic war film directed by Steven Spielberg.
This patriotic film set during WWII contains one of the most horrific sustained opening battle scenes. The action scenes are tense and realistic, but the non-fighting scenes are weaker by comparison. The final extended battle scene is epic and the end will bring a tear to the eye.
