Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Matt L — 12 Dec 2012
If you want to get the slightest idea of the horrors of WW2, this movie is the first one to turn to. The style of this movie is very appropriate to set the tone with it's very low saturation, grain, and rugged camera work.
I also am very pleased that they decided not to put music in the battle scenes, allowing for the ambience and fantastic sound effects to set you in the environment as much as possible. This movie tries to portray truth, not hollywood flashiness.
