Review of Saving Private Ryan (1998) by Darrell T — 26 May 2013
The best war movie ever made and one of the Top 5 movies of all time...the battle scenes are the most realistic ever put to film in movie history. The camera work makes it feel as if you're right in the action.
The cinematography is incredible and the acting is top notch. Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore, Barry Pepper, Edward Burns & Matt Damon head an incredible cast who pay tribute to the greatest heroes in American history.
Steven Spielberg's direction is the best of his career. There is no weakness in this film. It should be required viewing in high schools in the U.S., to show the youth of this country just what these men and women did and sacrificed all for the future of our country.
It's because of these courageous people that we have the freedoms that we continue to have to this day...multiple viewings are necessary and will inspire people to appreciate what the "Greatest Generation" did for all of us.
