Review of Saving Mr. Banks (2013) by Mango A — 27 Sep 2014
Saving Mr Banks Review (Review #1) (Short Review).
Before this review begins I want to be brutally honest and say I am not that great of a writer but I do enjoy writing and the reason for these reviews is to improve on my writing and I thought the best way to do that would be by writing about movies because I have a love for them.
In one sentence I can say that this movie hits all of the right notes for me, these notes being emotional keys.
The stand out performance in this film is Emma Thompson giving a performance that shows her range as an actress and a character that shows development throughout the movie. Tom Hanks in this movie, is Tom Hanks thats what the producers paid for and thats what he delivered and you can't ask for more than that. Colin Farrell is in this movie about the same amount of time as Tom Hanks so don't go thinking this is a Tom Hanks movie. Speaking of Colin Farrell, he is one of best parts about this movie being such a flawed character that just wants to do right for his daughter. Last but certainly not least is Paul Giamatti who is in the film in a very small role but is a fantastic supporting role. I am also giving a shoutout to the child actor that plays Ginty in the movie because she was fantastic in this movie and not annoying like alot of other child actors.
Apart from all of these performances, is the movie which is tells us a not so well known story that features a very well known character. This being how they made the movie Mary Poppins, which was alot harder that we all believe. The movie is clearly directed greatly because of these great performances but the director also shows he can handle a story aswell, Although this movie is really character driven. The score of this movie has a big hand because you can feel it when watching the movie and it is truely hypnotizing in the sense that it drags you further into the story and what the characters are going through.
Overall this movie is worth a watch if you like character driven movies.
